The South by Southwest ( SXSW ) is since 1987 a year in March in Austin / Texas (USA) held-find festival.It started as the SXSW music festival with a focus on roots rock and alternative country. SXSW is one of the biggest music festivals in the U.S., with over 2,000 artists performing in over 90 sites around downtown Austin. SXSW is the most important event for the economy of Austin, with an estimated economic impact of at least $ 110 million in 2008 1 .
The beginnings
In 1994, film and interactive conferences were added to the festival. SXSW Film has become a leading film festivals in the world. Similarly, SXSW Interactive has developed a strong following among web creators and entrepreneurs. The presentation of innovative technologies by SXSW Interactive Festival has earned a reputation as a field conducive to innovative technologies and creative ideas. Twitter was used extensively at SXSW Interactive 2007.
The musical event has grown from 700 registered in 1987 to nearly 12,000 enrolled. SXSW Film and SXSW Interactive attract about 11,000 people each year in Austin 2 .
SXSW has inspired other similar festivals, such as North by 35 (NX35) in Denton (Texas) , North by Northeast (NXNE) in Toronto and West by Southwest (WXSW) in Tucson .
SXSW also offers free samples of music artists of the festival. The number of songs has increased from 775 songs MP3 in 2005 to 1,267 in 2009 3 .
Festival 2007
The 2007 festival was held from March 14 to 18. Two films before this first year were the highly anticipated Elvis and Anabelle with Blake Lively and Max Minghella and the Indian comedy Skills Like This.
Festival 2009
The 2009 festival was held from March 13 to 22.
SXSW Interacive helped especially to raise levels of attendance. This influence of participants has strained supplier networks such AT & T (primarily due to intensive use of iPhone ) 4 .
SXSW Film has 250 films screened, including 54 world premieres. The festival began with the film I Love You, Man with Paul Rudd and Observe and Report with Seth Rogen .
Festival 2010
The 2010 festival was held from March 12 to 21.
The festival was devoted in part to Alex Chilton , who died shortly before going on stage with the band Big Star .
A concert in tribute was paid to him on March 20.
Nearly 2,000 groups have been officially registered to perform on stage 5 , and the festival organizers estimate that over 13 000 industry representatives attended 6 .
The Texan singer Bob Schneider won six awards including song of the year, Singer of the Year and Band of the Year with Lonelyland.
One can notice also benefits from Jerry Miller, Don Stevenson, Peter Lewis and the legendary Moby Grape 7 .
Content Rich Media integrates various media – sound, video, photos, metadata – presented in an interactive and time within a consultation interface ergonomics . Media capacity to synchronize audio and / or video with other media is a feature rich media.
Of rich media can rely on all kinds of video formats ( Windows Media Video , Flash Video , RealVideo , MPEG4 ) and technologies of rich interfaces ( Adobe Flash , HTML5 , Microsoft Silverlight ).
An example of rich media content may for example consist of a video streaming lectured and embellished slides marching to the beat of the presentation, as well as attachments (original presentation files, links, …), thus increasing the ‘ Interactivity with the user.

Terminology
The term rich media today does not yet have a standardized definition, but is found in various areas to designate one or more often embellished with video content metadata , data and procedures for Interactivity of any type (of hence the term “Rich”), as opposed to “simple” video content with the essential definition relates only to retransmit the goal of visual content (images).

History
Although the first experiments simulcast a video associated with a media presentation back to the 70s (Stanford Research Institute, “The Mother of All Demos”, 1968), it was not until the 2000s (project VXtreme from the Stanford Research Institute, Anoop Gupta, 1997) for Stanford University offers the first chapters of increased video content as well as a window with slides, in live broadcast and replay technology later acquired by Microsoft to give birth to NetShow Server .
One of the first applications RichMedia general public in France has been produced and distributed tf1.fr on November 9, 1999 (clip from a song by Francis Cabrel “Off Season”). The application took over the video, still images, illustrations, lyrics synchronized to the video and a series of html links.

Fragmentation and portability
A primary concern of Rich Media for the current fragmentation of formats used, indeed, a vast majority of content is done in Adobe Flash , which limits viewing to PC browsers. In parallel with the gradual deployment of HTML5 , some authoring tools are beginning to appear, but in all cases no pivot format has been adopted, which greatly limits the portability of content and links it to the use of a reader ( player) dedicated.

One way to alleviate the portability problems is to combine the rich media formats and Podcast , which can cover the entire spectrum of viewing terminals.
Solutions
Today hundreds of products (software or web-based tools) can easily create more or less rich media content, generally based on various technologies (later Adobe Flash , Microsoft Silverlight , HTML5 , …). Due to the nature and transverse composite content rich media (as opposed to traditional media video), the absence of a pivot format and the resulting fragmentation, these products are often accompanied by a delivery solution suitable for viewing on Internet .

Etymology
The word fest derives from Middle English , from Middle French word festivus, from the Latin word festivus. Festival was first recorded as a noun in 1589. Before he had been used as an adjective from the fourteenth century, the significance of the church was to celebrate holidays. The etymology of feast is very similar to that of the festival. The word “feste” (one letter different from “fest”) comes from Middle English , from Middle French , from the Latin word party. The party first came into use as a noun circa 1200, and the party was used as a verb circa 1300. A festival is an occasion of feasting or celebration, which is usually religion. There may be many different types of festival, like Halloween and Christmas .

The festivals of many types, serve to meet specific needs, as well as provide entertainment. These times of celebration offer a sense of the relevance of religious, social, or geographic groups. The Modern festivals that focus on cultural or ethnic topics seek to inform members of their traditions. In past times, festivals were times when the elderly shared stories and transferred certain ancient knowledge to the next generation. The historic celebrations often provided a means for unity among families and for people to find mates .
Types of festivals
There are numerous types of festivals in the world. Though many have religious origins, others involve seasonal change or have some cultural significance. Some institutions also celebrate their own festival (often called the “parties”) to mark important occasions in their history. These occasions could be the day that these institutions were founded or any other event that decided periodically celebrate, overall it annually.

Seasonal festivals are determined by the solar calendar , lunar calendar and the cycle of the season . The change of the season was commemorated, due to its effect on food supply. Ancient Egyptians celebrated the seasonal flooding caused by the Nile , a form of irrigation , which provided fertile land for crops. In the Alps , in autumn the return of cattle from the pastures of the mountain to the stables in the valley is celebrated as Almabtrieb . A recognized winter festival , the Chinese New Year , is determined by the lunar calendar, and celebrated from the day of the second new moon after the winter solstice .
“Fests”
Some institutions annually commemorate special events significant to its history. These institutions are usually educational institutes such as schools and senior secondary, secondary or high schools. These festivals are usually called “fests”. An example of this fest is Saarang at IIT Madras , Chennai .
Festivals of Ancient Egypt
Most festivals in ancient Egypt were religious, but others were not as a festival created by Ramesses III to celebrate the victory over the Libyans . When feasts occurred, they were determined by lunar cycles or the Egyptian calendar . Festivals were large celebrations with plenty of food available. At a party in the twelfth century BC, 11.341 form of bread and 385 jars of beer were given to the public. The Sed festival celebrated the thirtieth year of a pharaohs rule and then every three (or four, in one case) years later.

Islamic festivals: Hajj festival (biggest Islamic festival), Ide fiter festival is another Islamic festival, Ide Qadir festival is also an Irano-Islamic festival.
History
At that time (1960s and 1970) Brazil was on the political regime dictatorial military , which through its authoritarianism and repression kept the control in various aspects of Brazilian social life, especially in the area of culture (music, theater, cinema and literature). Despite all surveillance, repression and persecution of the agents of DOPS in all areas related to culture emerged forms of protests against the military regime. In music, in particular, there were songs of social and protests, which reached a large proportion of the population mainly due to the participation of musicians and songs in the great festivals held by the television. Delta Spirit formed in 2005 when Jonathan Jameson and Brandon Young, who had played with each other in many bands, and their new friend Sean Walker decided that they wanted to start a band that they really loved. Jameson, Young and Walker (who had just begun playing guitar) needed a vocalist; Young first spotted Vasquez busking loudly on a bench at two in the morning and the two exchanged information. Kelly Winrich started as the band’s producer but joined the band within the first year. The band got its name from Jonathan’s great uncle, “Uncle Red”, who was a flight control operator near Birmingham, AL. He also ran a company, “Delta Spirit Taxidermy Station of North Central Alabama”. The band released their debut EP, I Think I’ve Found It, on Monarchy Music in 2006, after which they toured alongside Cold War Kids, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Dr. Dog.
